LONRF2 pseudogene 2 (LONRF2P2) is a processed pseudogene related to the LON peptidase N-terminal domain and ring finger 2 gene (LONRF2). Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they typically contain disabling mutations, preventing them from producing a functional protein. Some pseudogenes are transcribed into noncoding RNAs and can regulate gene expression of their parental genes through RNA-based mechanisms such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or decoys for microRNAs and RNA binding proteins, although no specific function or disease association is documented for LONRF2P2 itself[2][3][5]. There are no data describing LONRF2P2 as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interaction partner.
