Overview
Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 12 (LRP12) is a transmembrane receptor belonging to the low-density lipoprotein receptor family. It is implicated in the internalization of lipophilic molecules and/or signal transduction. LRP12 is differentially expressed in many cancer cells and may act as a tumor suppressor. Pathogenic expansion of CGG repeats in the LRP12 gene is associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 28 (ALS28) and oculopharyngodistal myopathy 1. LRP12 participates in cellular pathways related to visual phototransduction and olfactory signaling[1][4][6].
