Target intelligence / Profile preview
Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (LRP6) is a single-pass transmembrane cell surface protein and a member of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor gene family. It functions as a co-receptor for Wnt proteins in canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling, regulating cell differentiation, proliferation, and embryonic development. It also mediates endocytosis and LDL uptake. Mutations in LRP6 are associated with metabolic disturbances, including hyperlipidemia and increased risk for metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease.
