Voltage-dependent T-type Calcium Channel (T-type Calcium Channel)

Target
T-type Calcium Channel
Molecular classification
Ion channel, Voltage-gated ion channel, Calcium channel
01

Overview

Voltage-dependent T-type calcium channels are a class of low-voltage activated (LVA) calcium channels that open transiently in response to small depolarizations of the cell membrane. They are called "T-type" because of their *transient* opening and rapid inactivation kinetics. These channels play crucial roles in regulating electrical excitability, pacemaking activity, and calcium signaling across various tissues including the heart, brain, endocrine system, smooth muscle, and bone.
