LRIG2 divergent transcript (LRIG2-DT) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the bidirectional promoter shared with the LRIG2 gene[5][3]. Its expression is modulated by the presence or absence of a nearby SVA retrotransposon insertion polymorphism (RIP), which also affects local methylation and expression of the coding gene LRIG2[2][3][5]. There is no demonstrated therapeutic targeting or receptor function for LRIG2-DT, and its direct biological roles remain largely undefined. It is primarily of interest in genomic studies focusing on transcriptional regulation and epigenetics—especially regarding how mobile genetic elements like SVAs influence gene expression in the human brain and other tissues[2][3][5]. As of the latest data, LRIG2-DT is classified as a lncRNA with uncertain or context-specific biological significance.
