LRP2-binding protein (LRP2BP) is a cytoplasmic protein that has been identified as interacting with low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 2 (LRP2, also known as megalin)[4][8]. It is also known as KIAA1325 and MegBP among other names. LRP2BP is predicted to be located primarily in the cytoplasm and shows distinct expression in neuronal processes and some other tissues[4][8]. Though the functional details are not fully elucidated, its main known role appears to be as a binding partner of LRP2, likely involved in cellular trafficking or adaptor functions. There is no evidence that LRP2BP itself is a therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor), nor is it currently implicated in a major disease context or targeted by drugs. Its main relevance is as part of the molecular machinery that may regulate LRP2/megalin function or localization.
