Overview

LRRC3 divergent transcript (LRRC3-DT), also known as LRRC3-AS1, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed from the opposite DNA strand of the LRRC3 protein-coding gene and classified as an antisense RNA[1][3][6]. Like other antisense lncRNAs, LRRC3-DT does not encode a protein but functions at the RNA level—influencing gene expression mainly through mechanisms such as transcriptional and epigenetic interference with sense transcripts[3][6]. The specific biological roles of LRRC3-DT have not been fully characterized, and there is currently no evidence that it directly acts as a therapeutic target, interacts with drugs, or serves as a disease biomarker. In general, antisense RNAs are important regulators of gene expression across multiple stages—ranging from mRNA synthesis to its stability and translation—often exerting their effects locally (in cis) or more distantly (in trans), but known evidence for LRRC3-DT’s physiological or pathological roles remains limited[3][6].
