Overview

LRRC3B Antisense RNA 1 (LRRC3B-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the protein-coding gene LRRC3B. As part of the lncRNA class, antisense RNAs such as LRRC3B-AS1 typically regulate their sense partner genes through direct RNA-RNA interactions or by recruiting protein machinery to modify gene expression. While antisense lncRNAs are increasingly recognized for diverse regulatory roles in cancer biology and gene expression, specific biological and pathological functions of LRRC3B-AS1 have not yet been extensively characterized. There is no evidence for direct involvement in pharmacological modulation, but its regulatory relationship with LRRC3B may be of future research interest for disease roles, particularly malignancies. Mechanistically, antisense lncRNAs often influence stability, translation, and epigenetic states of their target mRNAs.
