LRRTM4 antisense RNA 1 (LRRTM4-AS1)

Target
LRRTM4-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

LRRTM4 antisense RNA 1 (LRRTM4-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand to the LRRTM4 gene. It is nuclear localized and acts in cis to regulate the transcription of LRRTM4 by binding to its promoter region. LRRTM4-AS1 is highly expressed in colorectal cancer and functions as a tumor promoter by enhancing LRRTM4 expression, promoting cell cycle progression, proliferation, migration, invasion, and inhibiting apoptosis. High LRRTM4-AS1 expression correlates with poor prognosis in colorectal cancer, making it a potential therapeutic target and biomarker. There is no evidence of direct drug targeting or mechanisms beyond RNA interference and genetic manipulation[2][4][10].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable: No drugs directly target this RNA. However, knockdown or inhibition of LRRTM4-AS1 has been shown experimentally to suppress colorectal cancer cell proliferation and induce apoptosis[2].
