Overview

LTV1 ribosome biogenesis factor pseudogene 1 (LTV1P1) is a human pseudogene, meaning it is a genomic DNA sequence similar to the functional LTV1 gene but does not encode an active protein. LTV1P1 does not participate in ribosome biogenesis and is not involved in any known molecular pathways or diseases. Its entry may be confused with the protein-coding gene LTV1, which is essential for ribosome assembly and whose mutations cause defects in cell growth and embryogenesis in model organisms[2][3][5]. However, LTV1P1 itself is not a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any protein involved in pharmacology or disease. Any references associating LTV1P1 with drug targeting or disease roles are incorrect and result from mistaking the pseudogene for the functional LTV1 gene.

Biological functions

Other (pseudogenes generally do not encode functional products and do not have active biological functions, though some can have regulatory effects; there is no evidence of any function for LTV1P1 itself[1])
