Lung cancer-associated serum protein 1 receptor (LASEPR) is a 50-kDa cell surface receptor that interacts with the secreted protein LASEP1 (Lung cancer-associated serum protein 1). This interaction is reported to promote the growth and proliferation of lung cancer cells through an autocrine signaling mechanism. LASEPR is frequently overexpressed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), where its activation is linked to poor patient prognosis. Experimental studies have shown that silencing LASEPR using siRNA or neutralizing its ligand LASEP1 with monoclonal antibodies significantly inhibits tumor cell growth and induces apoptosis. Consequently, the LASEP1-LASEPR axis is considered a potential therapeutic target and a source of serological biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of lung cancer progression.
