Lung cancer associated transcript 1 (LUCAT1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) originally identified in smoking-induced lung cancer and later found to be upregulated in various cancers including colorectal cancer, multiple myeloma, renal cell carcinoma, and more[1][2][3][4]. LUCAT1 acts as an oncogene, promoting cancer cell proliferation, inhibiting apoptosis, and regulating the cell cycle by interacting with RNA-binding proteins such as nucleolin and modulating key oncogenic pathways, such as MYC and TGF-β signaling[1][2]. High expression of LUCAT1 is associated with poor prognosis across several tumor types and is being investigated as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target[1][2][4].
Not directly targeted by specific drugs; mechanistic studies indicate it regulates gene expression through interaction with proteins such as nucleolin, modulation of MYC expression, and activation of the TGF-β signaling pathway[1][2].
