Overview

LCIIAR (lung cancer immune cell infiltration associated long non-coding RNA, ENSG00000256802) is a cytoplasm-localized lncRNA located on chromosome 15 and is upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma tissue and cell lines. High LCIIAR expression correlates with worse clinical stage, poor prognosis, and increased infiltration by various immune cell types. Knockdown of LCIIAR inhibits tumor cell proliferation and migration, and its expression is regulated by DNA methylation status. LCIIAR participates in key oncogenic pathways (EMT, cell cycle checkpoint, apoptosis, IL-2/STAT5 signaling) and interacts within a regulatory axis affecting SLC16A3/CDCP1 overexpression. It is viewed as a novel prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target, though drugs or direct interventions are still exploratory. LCIIAR is not a classical drug target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel) but rather a non-coding RNA with regulatory activity significant for lung cancer biology. No known approved drugs currently directly target LCIIAR, apart from epigenetic modulators like 5-Azacytidine that can indirectly affect its expression via methylation.
