01

Overview

Lung tissue repair is a complex biological process involving multiple cell types, signaling pathways, and molecular mediators that restore lung structure and function after injury. It is essential for maintaining respiratory health and preventing chronic lung diseases. Key cell types include AT2 cells, basal cells, club cells, BASCs, and macrophages. Major molecular mediators include growth factors (TGF-α, KGF/FGF7, HGF), interleukins, chemokines, prostaglandins, and matrix metalloproteinases. Key signaling pathways are Sonic Hedgehog, Rho GTPases, MAP Kinase Pathways, STAT3, and Wnt Signaling. Effective lung tissue repair is vital for recovery from pneumonia/infection-induced damage but may be impaired by repeated/chronic insults leading to fibrosis or persistent loss-of-function diseases.
