Overview

The luteinizing hormone receptor (LHR), also known as the luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR), is a member of the glycoprotein hormone receptor subfamily within the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). It is essential for reproductive processes, including gonadal steroidogenesis, oocyte maturation and ovulation in females, and male sex differentiation. Mutations or dysregulation can result in various pathologies, including infertility, precocious puberty, and certain neoplasms.
