Overview
Luteinizing hormone (LH) release is a tightly controlled process essential for reproductive function. It is stimulated by pulsatile GnRH secretion from the hypothalamus, which acts on the anterior pituitary to release LH. LH, in turn, stimulates the gonads to produce sex steroids and regulate gametogenesis. The process is subject to complex feedback loops and can be manipulated pharmacologically to treat various reproductive disorders and hormone-dependent cancers.
