Lutropin-choriogonadotropic hormone receptor (LHCGR)

Target
LHCGR
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor

Overview

The lutropin-choriogonadotropic hormone receptor (LHCGR) is a transmembrane protein belonging to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily. It is primarily expressed in the ovary and testis and serves as a receptor for luteinizing hormone (LH) and chorionic gonadotropins (hCG). Upon ligand binding, it activates G proteins, stimulating adenylate cyclase and triggering downstream signaling pathways essential for reproductive function. Mutations in LHCGR can lead to various health conditions, including familial male-limited precocious puberty and infertility disorders.
