Overview

LYL1 basic helix-loop-helix family member (LYL1) is a transcription factor belonging to the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) protein family and is involved in the regulation of cell fate during hematopoiesis and vascular development[5][6]. The encoded protein binds DNA in a sequence-specific manner and dimerizes with other bHLH factors to regulate gene expression[2][5]. LYL1 plays a crucial role in blood vessel maturation and the maintenance of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells[3][5]. Chromosomal translocations involving the LYL1 locus have been associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia[5][6]. LYL1 interacts with other transcriptional regulators such as TCF3 and NFKB1[2], and has significant roles in developmental lineage commitment and cancer biology[3]. No approved drugs directly targeting LYL1 are documented, and its primary therapeutic interest is its implication in hematological malignancies[5][6].
