Overview

Lymphocyte antigen 86 (LY86), also known as MD-1, is a secretory glycoprotein widely expressed in B cells, tonsil, and monocytes[1][2][3]. LY86 forms a complex with CD180 (RP105) and may cooperate with Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) to mediate innate immune responses to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and subsequent cytokine production[2][3][7]. It is essential for effective CD180 cell surface expression and plays a regulatory role in the activation of T cells and the broader inflammatory immune response[1][2][7]. LY86 is involved in positively regulating LPS-mediated signaling pathways, placing it functionally within the innate immune system[1][3]. While there is evidence of disease associations, no drugs directly targeting LY86 are reported in current publicly available databases.
