"Lymphocyte DNA" refers to the entire genomic DNA of lymphocytes, including all of the nuclear and mitochondrial DNA sequences contained within B, T, and NK cells. Unlike specific genes or proteins, lymphocyte DNA is not itself a discrete molecular target. However, the DNA of lymphocytes undergoes unique biological events, notably V(D)J recombination, which is essential for the generation of highly diverse antigen receptors (immunoglobulin in B cells and T-cell receptor in T cells)[1][3]. This process requires programmed DNA double-strand breaks and DNA repair, which integrate signaling pathways involving DNA damage response factors such as ATM kinase[1]. Aberration in these processes can contribute to diseases such as immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, and lymphoid cancers[1][3]. In mature lymphocytes, DNA can also be extruded as extracellular traps during immune activation, which has autocrine and paracrine signaling roles in immunity and inflammation[6]. However, "lymphocyte DNA" is not a standard term for a targetable molecule in drug development.
