Overview

Lymphocyte Function-Associated Antigen 3 (LFA-3), also known as CD58, is a widely expressed cell surface glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It functions primarily as a ligand for the T lymphocyte CD2 molecule, mediating cell adhesion, costimulation, and signal transduction in immune responses. LFA-3 exists in transmembrane and GPI-anchored isoforms and is implicated in multiple sclerosis, cancer, and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.
