Lymphocyte population

Lymphocyte population refers to the collection of lymphocytes found in blood, lymphoid organs, and tissues. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell involved in adaptive and innate immune responses and include T cells (mediating cell-mediated immunity), B cells (producing antibodies for humoral immunity), and innate lymphoid cells, including NK cells, responsible for cytotoxic responses. The term “lymphocyte population” lacks the specificity required to define a unique molecular or therapeutic target; rather, it encompasses a large family of cell types classified on the basis of cell-surface markers, function, and developmental origin.
