Overview

Lymphotoxin beta (LTβ), also known as TNFC, TNFSF3, or p33, is a type II membrane protein and a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. It forms heterotrimers with lymphotoxin alpha (LTα), primarily as an LTα1/β2 complex, which serves as the main ligand for the lymphotoxin beta receptor (LTβR). LTβ plays a critical role in the development and organization of secondary lymphoid tissues, induces inflammatory responses, and is implicated in tumorigenesis and chronic inflammatory diseases. Its signaling involves activation of NFκB pathways and regulation of chemokines and cytokines.
