LYPLA1P3 (LYPLA1 pseudogene 3) is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene related to the functional gene LYPLA1 (lysophospholipase 1). By definition, a pseudogene is a non-functional segment of DNA resembling a functional gene but typically does not encode a functional protein and is not translated. LYPLA1P3 does not have a known direct biological or pathogenic role, is not used as a biomarker or therapeutic target, and does not participate in molecular pathways like LYPLA1. There are pseudogenes of LYPLA1 on chromosomes 4, 6, and 7; LYPLA1P3 is one of these and is non-functional.
