LYRM4 antisense RNA 1 (LYRM4-AS1)

Target
LYRM4-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, Antisense RNA
01

Overview

LYRM4 antisense RNA 1 (LYRM4-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense transcript located on chromosome 6p25.1 that regulates the expression of the adjacent LYRM4 gene, which encodes a protein involved in mitochondrial iron-sulfur cluster assembly[2][3]. LYRM4-AS1 has been implicated in cancer biology, with high levels predicting poor outcomes in glioma, and it may play roles in mitochondrial diseases through modulation of iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis[4][5]. It does not encode a protein nor serve as a drug target in current therapies.

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (as an antisense transcript, typically modulates expression of the sense gene LYRM4[2])
03

Disease associations

Cancer (high LYRM4-AS1 expression predicts poor prognosis in glioma and is associated with immune infiltration[4])Mitochondrial/metabolic disorders (associated with Combined Oxidative Phosphorylation Deficiency 19 through its relationship with LYRM4[3][5])
04

Biomarkers

high LYRM4-AS1 expression has been reported as a prognostic biomarker in glioma[4]
