Lysine acetyltransferase 2B (KAT2B), also known as P300/CBP-associated factor (PCAF), is a histone acetyltransferase enzyme and transcriptional coactivator. It plays a central role in regulating gene expression by modifying chromatin structure and interacting with various transcription factors, including p53. KAT2B functions as a histone acetyltransferase (HAT), primarily targeting core histones H3 and H4, leading to chromatin relaxation and promotion of transcriptional activation. It also acetylates non-histone proteins and plays a role in cell cycle regulation and development.
