Overview

Lysine-specific demethylase RSBN1L (RSBN1L) is an enzyme that catalyzes demethylation of methylated lysine residues within histone proteins, functioning in the epigenetic regulation of chromatin structure. Originally described as a testis-specific protein expressed in round spermatids, further studies indicate RSBN1L is expressed more broadly and is present in other germ cell stages. RSBN1L can demethylate both dimethyl and trimethyl lysine 20 on histone H4 (H4K20me2 and H4K20me3), converting them into monomethyl H4K20 (H4K20me1) and thereby influencing chromatin organization and gene expression during spermatogenesis. RSBN1L belongs to the RSBN1/Dpy-21/CEP530 family of demethylases[1][2]. At present, there are no documented drug interactions, disease associations, or direct clinical relevance for RSBN1L.
