Lysophospholipid acyltransferases are a family of enzymes that catalyze the reacylation step of phospholipid remodeling, also known as the Lands cycle. They are crucial for modifying the acyl groups of phospholipids, which influences membrane fluidity and cellular functions. These enzymes use acyl-CoA as acyl donors and lysophospholipids as acceptors to produce new phospholipid molecules. Given their role in lipid metabolism, LPLATs could be therapeutic targets for diseases related to membrane dysfunction.
