Lysosomal-associated membrane protein 1 pseudogene (LOC646506, ENSG00000215310) is a non-coding genomic element homologous to the functional LAMP1 gene. Unlike LAMP1, which is a well-characterized lysosomal membrane glycoprotein important for lysosome biogenesis, pH regulation, autophagy, and immune cell function[2][3][6], the pseudogene variant does not code for a functional protein and is not implicated in these biological activities. Pseudogenes such as LOC646506 typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are widely considered to lack biological function and therapeutic relevance; they are not recognized as drug targets or disease biomarkers[7].
