The Lysyl-tRNA synthetase 1 pseudogene 1 (KARS1P1) is a non-functional, non-protein-coding genetic element related to the gene encoding lysyl-tRNA synthetase 1 (KARS1)[5]. Pseudogenes arise from the duplication or mutation of functional genes, but most lack regulatory function, do not produce proteins, and are not considered molecular drug targets, receptors, or enzymes. The functional enzyme, lysyl-tRNA synthetase 1, catalyzes the charging of tRNA^Lys with lysine, playing a crucial role in translation and protein synthesis[1][5]. Only the protein-coding form (lysyl-tRNA synthetase 1, KARS1) is considered a therapeutic target in infectious disease and possibly autoimmunity[4][5]. KARS1P1 does not participate directly in any biological process, signal transduction, or disease mechanism; thus, it has no known disease roles, no known drug interactions, and no established function as a biomarker or safety concern[5].
