M2 Macrophage Polarization (M2 Polarization)

Target
M2 Polarization
Molecular classification
Cellular State, Immune Cell Polarization, Phenotype
01

Overview

M2 macrophage polarization is the process by which macrophages adopt an "alternatively activated" phenotype, typically in response to specific environmental cues such as cytokines IL-4, IL-13, and IL-10. This state is characterized by anti-inflammatory functions, tissue repair activities, immune regulation, and promotion of tumor progression in certain contexts. It is a dynamic process, and macrophages can repolarize between M1 and M2 states.
