Maestro heat-like repeat-containing protein family member 2B (MROH2B) is a protein encoded by the human MROH2B gene. It is predicted to be involved in protein kinase A signaling and has been implicated in the process of sperm capacitation, a physiological change that sperm undergo to become capable of fertilizing an egg. The protein colocalizes with PRKACA and TCP11 in the acrosome and tail regions of spermatozoa, suggesting a functional role in sperm structure or signaling. MROH2B is associated with certain complex diseases such as polyneuropathy, hearing loss, ataxia, retinitis pigmentosa, and cataract, but there is no evidence that it acts as a direct therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical drug discovery target in current biomedical literature[1][3][5][10][12][13].
