Overview

MAGE family member E2 (MAGEE2) is a protein encoded by the intronless MAGEE2 gene, part of the E-type subfamily of the MAGE (melanoma antigen-encoding gene) family. The MAGE proteins are characterized by the MAGE homology domain and interact with E3 ubiquitin ligases, influencing protein stability and cell signaling, with important roles in tumorigenesis. MAGEE2 has been associated with melanoma and hepatocellular carcinoma and may play roles in transcriptional processes and brain development, particularly in rodents.
