Target intelligence / Profile preview
MAGEA8 antisense RNA 1 (MAGEA8-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome X and transcribed antisense to the MAGEA8 gene. It is also referenced as RP5-869M20.2. MAGEA8-AS1 is classified as an antisense non-coding RNA; such RNAs can modulate gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level but the precise biological function of MAGEA8-AS1 is currently unknown. There is a reported association of this lncRNA with muscular dystrophy, though additional clinical or mechanistic characterization is lacking. No evidence currently supports its role as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or direct involvement in drug interactions.
