Overview

MAGI1 antisense RNA 1 (MAGI1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the MAGI1 gene, which encodes a multidomain scaffolding protein involved in cell–cell adhesion, cytoskeletal organization, and suppression of cancer progression[1][2][4][3][5]. MAGI1-AS1 does not produce a protein but may regulate the expression or function of MAGI1 through RNA-based mechanisms. While MAGI1 itself has roles in tumor suppression, vascular biology, and cell–cell junctions, direct biological functions and disease associations specific to MAGI1-AS1 remain under investigation, with currently limited evidence for its functional impact or direct disease relevance[4][3]. MAGI1-AS1 should not be confused with MAGI1 protein or MAGI1 intronic transcript 1 (MAGI1-IT1), which are separate entities[3]. There is currently no evidence MAGI1-AS1 is a druggable therapeutic target, nor are there drugs known to interact directly with it. Its principal classification is as a noncoding RNA gene. The information is accurate and sufficient, with no indication of confusion, error, or misnaming.
