Overview

MAGOH divergent transcript (MAGOH-DT) is a long non-coding RNA gene located in the human genome near the protein-coding MAGOH gene. Unlike MAGOH, which encodes a core component of the exon junction complex involved in mRNA processing, MAGOH-DT does not encode a protein and its functional role remains unclear. MAGOH-DT, as with many divergent transcripts, is presumed to be involved in the regulation of its neighboring gene (MAGOH) or chromatin structure, but no detailed mechanistic or disease-related functions have been conclusively described.
