The major histocompatibility complex–cytomegalovirus peptide complex on dendritic cells is a fundamental immunological structure wherein dendritic cells, acting as professional antigen-presenting cells, display viral peptides derived from cytomegalovirus within the peptide-binding groove of their MHC class I or II molecules. These complexes are recognized by T cell receptors on cytotoxic or helper T cells, initiating a targeted antiviral immune response. The diversity and specificity of these complexes are central to effective immune surveillance of CMV, the development of immunotherapies, and adoptive transfer protocols for immunocompromised patients. Detection of these complexes and their responding T cell populations is also a critical biomarker for monitoring CMV reactivation and immune status in at-risk individuals[4][2].
