Major histocompatibility complex, class I, V (abbreviated HLA-V) is a transcribed and annotated pseudogene in the human genome[1][4][5][7]. It has also been referred to as HLA-75, dJ377H14.4, HLA-75 pseudogene, and histocompatibility antigen-related. HLA-V is not a classical functional gene encoding an active protein, and there is no established role as a therapeutic or diagnostic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter. Its sequence is related to the family of MHC class I genes, which are best known for their roles in antigen presentation and immune recognition[10]. However, as a pseudogene, HLA-V does not yield a functional protein product, and no direct biological function, disease involvement, drug targets, or mechanisms of action are known for this locus. There is no evidence to support its use as a biomarker or its involvement in any drug interactions or safety considerations. Its classification as a pseudogene means it should not be considered a canonical therapeutic target or receptor[1][4][5][7].
