**MALAT1 antisense RNA transcript (TALAM1)** is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the MALAT1 gene locus.[1][2][3][4] TALAM1 positively regulates the expression and stability of MALAT1—a highly conserved, nucleus-localized lncRNA implicated in cancer cell migration, invasion, and metastasis—by acting as a natural antisense transcript and forming a sense/antisense regulatory pair.[1][2] TALAM1 and MALAT1 act synergistically to promote the migratory and metastatic properties of cancer cells, particularly in aggressive breast cancers.[1][3] Downregulation of TALAM1, either alone or with MALAT1, reduces cancer cell invasion and lung metastasis, suggesting its therapeutic potential as a target for antisense oligonucleotide-based therapies.[1][3] Although no direct small molecules or clinical drugs currently target TALAM1, its inhibition is a promising avenue for anti-metastatic cancer therapies as it is a candidate biomarker and regulator of lncRNA-driven cancer progression.[1][2][3][4]
