Mammaglobin A (MGB1)

Target
MGB1
Molecular classification
Secretoglobin, Secreted protein
01

Overview

Mammaglobin A (SCGB2A2) is a small, secreted protein highly specific to mammary tissue. It is frequently overexpressed in breast carcinomas and serves as a diagnostic marker for detecting circulating tumor cells or micrometastases. While its exact physiological role is incompletely understood, it is believed to play roles in cell signaling, immune response, chemotaxis, and steroid hormone transport. Recent studies suggest its potential as a therapeutic target for antibody-mediated drug delivery.
