Target intelligence / Profile preview
The mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) is a multi-protein complex that plays a central role in regulating cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, and survival in response to nutrient and energy status, as well as various extracellular signals. mTORC1 is frequently deregulated in human cancers and other diseases.
Rapamycin binds FKBP12, and the resulting complex interacts with mTORC1, disrupting its structure and function, inhibiting downstream signaling.
