MAN2A2 antisense RNA 1 (MAN2A2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the MAN2A2 gene: it does not encode a protein and is not a conventional pharmacological target. Like other antisense lncRNAs, MAN2A2-AS1 is presumed to play a regulatory role at its genomic locus, potentially influencing the expression or processing of the sense MAN2A2 transcript via cis-acting mechanisms, chromatin modification, or RNA-RNA interactions[4]. Antisense RNAs and lncRNAs can contribute to gene regulatory networks involved in normal physiology and disease, but MAN2A2-AS1 itself has not yet been directly linked to a specific pathology or drug interaction.
