Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mannan-binding lectin serine protease 2 (MASP2) is a key enzyme in the lectin pathway of the complement system. It activates complement components C4 and C2, leading to the formation of C3 convertase and the subsequent activation of the complement cascade. MASP-2 also plays a role in coagulation by cleaving prothrombin. It is considered a therapeutic target for inhibiting pathological activation of the lectin pathway.
