Mannheimia haemolytica antigens are a diverse group of molecular components derived from the Gram-negative bacterium M. haemolytica, the primary pathogen associated with Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) or "shipping fever" [Merck Veterinary Manual, 2023]. The most critical antigen is the leukotoxin (Lkt), a pore-forming exotoxin that specifically targets bovine leukocytes, leading to lung tissue damage and impaired immune response [Rice et al., 2007]. Other significant antigens include the capsular polysaccharide, which facilitates immune evasion, and various outer membrane proteins (OMPs) that mediate bacterial adhesion to the respiratory epithelium [Singh et al., 2011].
