Mannosidase endo-alpha like pseudogene 1 (MANEALP1) is a pseudogene, a DNA segment that closely resembles the functional mannosidase endo-alpha like gene but is rendered nonfunctional due to accumulated mutations that prevent it from encoding a protein[7][1][3][9]. Like other pseudogenes, MANEALP1 may arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events[1][3]. It does **not** function as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. While some pseudogenes are transcribed and can influence biological processes by acting as decoys for regulatory molecules such as microRNAs, most—including MANEALP1—are not currently described as having direct roles in disease or therapeutic intervention. Overall, MANEALP1 is best classified as a noncoding, nonfunctional genomic element involved in the evolutionary history of DNA and potentially in gene expression regulation at the RNA level, but with no current therapeutic relevance[2][7][9].
