MAP3K2 divergent transcript (MAP3K2-DT) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the region adjacent to the MAP3K2 gene on human chromosome 2. Divergent transcripts are defined as lncRNA genes located within several hundred nucleotides of a protein-coding gene, transcribed in the opposite direction. There is currently no evidence that MAP3K2-DT encodes a protein or functions directly as a therapeutic target. Its precise biological function, disease associations, or clinical significance remain to be established. MAP3K2-DT should not be confused with MAP3K2 (Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 2), which is a protein-coding gene with roles in signal transduction pathways, cell proliferation, and cancer, and is considered a potential therapeutic target.
