MAP6 domain-containing protein 1 (MAP6D1) is a microtubule-associated protein highly similar to the STOP protein family, expressed in the human brain, including the spinal cord, and implicated in the stabilization and trafficking of microtubules, especially under conditions of stress such as cold or drug exposure[4][5]. Its functional domains are homologous to those found in other MAP6 family proteins, including calmodulin-binding motifs and stabilization modules, enabling it to regulate microtubule architecture in neurons. While MAP6D1 shares functional similarities and high sequence homology with canonical MAP6 proteins, there is limited evidence for a direct role in human disease or as a therapeutic drug target[4][2][3][5].
