MAP7 antisense RNA 1 (MAP7-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA found at locus chr6:136550661-136552554 in the human genome. It is transcribed antisense to the MAP7 (Microtubule Associated Protein 7) gene but does not encode a protein product. Antisense lncRNAs such as MAP7-AS1 can regulate gene expression through cis- or trans-acting mechanisms, typically by influencing the transcription, splicing, or stability of sense transcripts. No direct disease associations, drug interactions, or validated biomarker roles are currently reported for MAP7-AS1. MAP7-AS1 should not be confused with the protein-coding MAP7 gene. The biological functions of antisense lncRNAs are sometimes inferred from studies on similar RNAs, and specific functional data for MAP7-AS1 in disease or as a drug target are currently lacking.
