MAPK regulated corepressor interacting protein 2 pseudogene 1 (MCRIP2P1) is a genomic DNA sequence classified as a pseudogene related to the MCRIP2 gene (MAPK regulated corepressor interacting protein 2), but it does not produce a functional protein product. Pseudogenes arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are generally considered nonfunctional genomic elements; however, some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs or miRNA sponges in rare cases. Most pseudogenes are transcriptionally silent and do not participate directly in recognized biological pathways or serve as therapeutic targets[1][2]. There are currently no data linking MCRIP2P1 to disease, functional regulatory RNAs, or drug targeting. If pursuing information about MCRIP2 as a functional gene or its protein product, it is necessary to distinguish it from this pseudogene.
