Target intelligence / Profile preview
MAPRE3 antisense RNA 1 (MAPRE3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the MAPRE3 locus on human chromosome 2[4]. lncRNAs of this type generally function in the regulation of local or distant gene expression through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, chromatin remodeling, or modulation of mRNA stability or translation[3]. However, there is no specific peer-reviewed functional or clinical annotation for MAPRE3-AS1 itself in standard databases as of 2025. Its expression, role in health or disease, and utility as a drug target remain unclear in current biomedical literature[4][3]. MAPRE3 (without the "-AS1") refers to a protein-coding gene: Microtubule-associated protein RP/EB family member 3, with well-characterized molecular and biological functions[2][5][7][8]. MAPRE3-AS1 is distinct and does not encode a protein, nor is it known to have "receptor", "enzyme", or similarly druggable target properties. The classification as a therapeutic target ("is_target") is set to false, as there is currently no evidence supporting its use as a direct target for pharmacological intervention or biomarker for patient selection.
